Kim Roche, Conservator at MSDS Marine, has recently gained membership with the UK Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). ICOM’s UK branch serves to link professionals from UK museums and heritage organisations with those from other countries around the world. ICOM has a dedicated committee for conservation professionals, the International Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC), which promotes the conservation of cultural heritage from different specialisms of conservation through twenty-one working groups. Two of these working groups, the Wet Organic Archaeological Materials group (WOAM) and the Metals group will be holding subject-specific triennial conferences, which Kim plans to attend, later this year. Membership was granted on the basis that Kim’s work for MSDS Marine is conservation-based and provides services, knowledge, and expertise to museums as her main professional activity.
