Continued professional development, or CPD, is important to us at MSDS and we are keen to make sure our team get the opportunity to develop their skills. We are therefore delighted that Asimina Porrou has been accepted onto the Advanced Underwater Archaeology Course being run this Autumn by the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar.
The course is designed to offer early career professionals the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on theoretical and practical skills in underwater archaeology. It is designed to provide participants with advanced skills and training in underwater archaeology knowledge in project planning.
The course is organised with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia. Practical organisation is coordinated by ICUA Zadar and other guest lectures and associates. Theoretical lessons will be held in morning or evening hours, while practical instruction and excavation will take place around noon in the vicinity of Zadar. After successfully completing the exercises, Asimina will have the opportunity to take part in practical sessions related to underwater archaeological site research at Sukošan. ICUA Zadar has been conducting underwater archaeological research at the Roman port in Sukošan for several years. During these investigations, remains of a breakwater, a pier, and a sensational discovery of a wooden ship construction have been found.
To say the rest of the team are a little jealous is an understatement! What a great CPD opportunity!
